Spligitty® Provides Fiber Splicing Introduction to Google Fiber SLC Sales Team

Spligitty was the primary splicing provider for the Google Fiber construction project in Salt Lake City, Utah. We were able to make the splicing/testing portion of the project a success due to our ability to plan and develop project specific processes. More importantly we were able to then Improvise, Adapt, and Overcome when those plans had to change.

Recognizing our success with the project, the Google Fiber SLC team asked us to familiarize their sales and deployment teams with Fiber Optic Construction Splicing and the materials used to build their network. During the Fiber Splicing Introduction, we explained some of the challenges of the project and how we overcame them. However, the main focus of the presentation was to familiarize the Google Fiber Teams with fiber splicing and testing.

The Google Fiber Teams were very engaged and learned a lot about the processes, tools, and materials used to build the Google Fiber SLC network.

The presentation led up to a competition in which five teams spliced into a table top version of a fiber network.  Those splices were then tested, and a winner was announced. Bragging rights were established and everyone appreciated the information and chance to have hands on experience splicing fiber.

The Google Fiber Teams were very engaged and learned a lot about the processes, tools, and materials used to build the Google Fiber SLC network. Google Fiber, we look forward to working with you again soon.

Spligitty® Adds Lecia Eddy as our new Safety Director

Lecia comes to us after spending many years in the Safety field. Her experience in manufacturing and industrial safety will prove valuable to our teams. Lecia also spent time as an OSHA inspector so she has intimate experience investigating violations, incidents, and injuries. Hopefully, that experience won't be put to much use at Spligitty.

Lecia has already made great strides in upgrading our safety program. Having a dedicated Safety Director should help Spligitty to elevate our Safety Program to meet or exceed the ever-growing requirements of our customers, insurance providers, and government entities.

Welcome aboard Lecia!

Spligitty® Deploys to the Virgin Islands

Spligitty deploys splicers to help get the islands of St. Thomas, St. John, and St. Croix back up and running. Splicers from the Utah offices are on island and assessing the damage to the network. The extensive damage to their network will likely take months to repair and replace.

At least initially the greatest challenge has been logistics. Two of the largest challenges were transferring our team and relocating the tools necessary to complete the project.
